Super Bowl brothers in arms

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning insists his brother Eli is ready to eli_manningpeyton_manning_628392l ead the New York Giants to Super Bowl glory.

The Giants are massive underdogs for Super Bowl XLII against a New England Patriots team that is 18-0 this season.

Peyton, who was named Super Bowl MVP last year after leading the Colts to a 29-17 victory over the Chicago Bears, will be in attendance on February 3.

And the 31-year-old is predicting a bright future for his younger brother - starting in Glendale, Arizona, against the Pats.

Prediction

Manning said: "They’re a young team and they’re going to be in the mix every single year.

"As his brother, obviously I am proud. But as a quarterback, I just can’t tell you how much I appreciate the way he played in those conditions in Green Bay and just coming back from deficits - the same way in Dallas and in Tampa.

"This is obviously the biggest game that he has ever played in. It was certainly the biggest game I had ever played in last year. But I feel he is ready for the opportunity, although I have to say that I feel strongly that this will not be the last Super Bowl that he will play in.

"I think he has what it takes to lead his team to championships. I have always thought he has that, even before what has happened these last three weeks."

Eli has thrown eight touchdown passes and one interception over the past four games - against the Pats, the Buccaneers, the Cowboys and the Packers - and will need to produce more of the same if the Giants are to stand any chance of ending New England’s perfect record.
