The New Orleans Saints and San Diego Chargers will face each other next season in London, Saints quarterback Drew Brees told skysports.com in an exclusive interview during Super Bowl week in Phoenix.

"Playing the Chargers was always going to be a big game," said Brees, who was a Chargers player before being traded. "Now, with the opportunity to play in front on an international audience it will be a great opportunity for us. It’s an honour."

"With all that happened in 2005 with [Hurricane] Katrina, it’s an honour to be recognised."

The Saints will lose a home fixture on their schedule because of the game. More information will be available about the game when the NFL releases full details on Friday.

The NFL has said that there will be a press conference confirming a game in London, when the two sides taking part will be officially unveiled.

In 2007 the New York Giants and Miami Dolphins faced off in the inaugural regular season game at Wembley Stadium, with the Giants winning 13-10.
